Welcome to Books by Author Janet Willis

Welcome to my post. I'm happy to announce the ebook publishing of two of my books, "My New Friend" and "Tara's Wish", on Smashwords.  Both books are children's books and can be found at https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/238850

So why did I decide to write Children's Books? Simply put, because I love children. I have two of my own, and spent ten years working in a school setting with children of all ages. "My New Friend" was inspired because of my son, who has challenges, and from all the other children I worked with who also have challenges. We know that children start learning from a young age. They learn how to count, recognize their colors, and also how to interact with other children. But what happens when they have a child in their class who is different? Who teaches them how to interact with them? Who teaches them that it's okay to be different? "My New Friend" helps kids to learn just that. Maria is a very special girl, she has autism. Most of the kids at school don't understand her. Most of the kids at school make fun of her. She doesn't have many friends. She has friends in her imagination, and her parents love to help her feel accepted. But even children with challenges need a real friend. I invite you to view a sample of, "My New Friend" on Smashwords.

What happens when a child doesn't fit in with the rest of the group? "Tara's Wish" is about a girl who is smaller in size than her friends, Bridgette, Lilly and Josie. Always being called a , "runt" or "squirt,"  things take a different turn for Tara when she meets Kyle, who has a message for her. This heartfelt story is one of inspiration. A must read.
